Mercedes-Benz has debuted their new concept vehicle, the 2040 streamliner, inspired by the original Mercedes-Benz W196R. The concept car is another innovative look at the future of automotive design by Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz utilized the South Korean designer Minwoong Im to help assist in the concept.
The 2040 Streamliner form borrows much from the Mercedes-Benz W196, which itself was designed and inspired by World War II fighter planes. Utilizing that design, the 2040 Streamliner is powered by a dual jet engine system rather than a traditional combustion system.
The design features a retro-futuristic concept, with a low profile and tightly enclosed cabin to provide for more efficiency for air resistance.
Mercedes-Benz continues to pave the way towards future design and technology, innovating in autonomous driving, electric vehicles and design.
